TODDLER GYMNASTICS CLASSES (JUNIOR GYM-MITES)

ABOUT OUR CLASS
This Parent-Tot format class is where a parent or caregiver actively participates with the child, offering support and guidance. The class focuses on developing gross motor skills, balance, coordination, body awareness, and listening skills.  
​
ACTIVITIES
  • Musical Warm-ups: led by an instructor to include fundamental stretching, jumping, dancing, and learning gymnastics positions.  

  • Fundamental Gymnastics Skills: Rolls (forward/backward), beginning cartwheels, bridges, and more.

  • Obstacle Courses: Using tunnels, slides, and mats for exploration.

  • Equipment Time: Trampolines (with parent), low beams, bars, and rings.

  • Class Structure: Short (45 mins), with a mix of structured stations and free exploration, ending with open play and social time.

  • Environment: A secure, clean, soft, space designed for physical exploration and fun

ABOUT OUR CLASS
Gym-Mites focuses on developing fundamental movement skills in a fun and engaging way. Classes emphasize coordination, flexibility, strength, and spatial awareness through activities and often incorporate play-based learning and creative themes to keep young children motivated and engaged.

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN
  • Basic Movement Skills: Rolling, jumping, hopping, skipping, and other fundamental movements are introduced and practiced. 

  • Apparatus Skills: Students will start with basic skills on equipment like bars, beams, Floor, vault, and trampolines, building up to more complex movements as they progress.

PRESCHOOL GYMNASTICS CLASSES (SUPER-MITES)

ABOUT OUR CLASS
Super-Mites Isis an advanced version of our preschool program. This is an invitation-only program where we place our more advanced students who are not challenged in our regular Gym-Mite program classes. Please check with Mr. Mike if you feel your child might qualify
for this program.

SCHOOL-AGED GYMNASTICS CLASSES - LEVELS 1, 2, 3, and 4

ABOUT OUR CLASSES

​​School-aged gymnastics classes cater to boys and girls of various skill levels, offering a fun and safe way to develop gross motor skills, coordination, strength, and flexibility. Classes often cater to different skill levels, from beginners to more advanced gymnasts, and will include instruction on tumbling, floor exercise, balance beam, uneven bars, tumble tramp and vault.

LEVEL 1 BEGINNER CLASSES

  • Focus: Introduce basic skills like rolls, handstands, bridges, and simple apparatus skills. 

  • Activities: Warm-up exercises, tumbling drills, basic apparatus practice, and introduction to safety falls. 

  • Benefits: Develops core strength, coordination, and basic gymnastics techniques. 

  • Skill Examples:   Forward rolls, cartwheels, and handstands

 

LEVEL 2 INTERMEDIATE CLASSES

  • Focus: Building on basic skills, introducing more complex tumbling, and refining apparatus techniques. 

  • Benefits: Improves flexibility, strength, and agility, while also enhancing technical skills and confidence. 

  • Skill Examples:  Running cartwheels, backbend kickover (spotted), and roundoffs

 

LEVEL 3 ADVANCED CLASSES

  • Focus: Developing advanced tumbling skills, mastering complex apparatus routines, and preparing for level 4 Team. 

  • Activities: Advanced tumbling skills, intricate routines on all apparatus, and strength and conditioning exercises. 

  • Benefits: Refines technique, builds strength and flexibility, and prepares students for competitive gymnastics or other gymnastics-related activities like cheerleading and tumbling. 

  • Skill Examples:  Running roundoffs,  back handsprings (spotted), and backbend kickovers

 

LEVEL 4 TEAM CLASSES (NON-COMPETITIVE)

  • Skill Examples:  Running Round off-Back Handsprings (spotted),  front handsprings, aerials, and more

STRONG & BRAVE KIDS / STRONG & BRAVE OLDER KIDS (NINJA STYLE)​​

Age 4 to Age 6 (Strong & Brave Kids); and 7+ (Strong & Brave Older Kids)

ABOUT OUR CLASS

Strong and Brave Kids (formerly our Ninja program) is a kids' gym program designed to be fun, inclusive, and engaging. Created by Mr. Mike, who has over 40 years of experience in coaching gymnastics and a recent BA in Child Psychology, the program aims to get kids active while helping them develop strength and learn to overcome fear—an essential skill for life. This program is specifically designed for children ages 5 to 12, regardless of their athletic experience.

 

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Each 45-minute session includes a variety of enjoyable fitness activities, such as basic gymnastics skills, rope climbing, trapeze swinging, jumping off obstacles, using trampolines, and playing on bars, beams, rock climbing walls, and much more. At NYGC, we also educate children about the benefits of warming up and other safety measures while engaging in physical activity.

BANANASTICS (BOY'S FLIP/TRICK CLASS)

8+

ABOUT OUR CLASS

Bananastics is a tumble/trick class for older boys that teaches fundamental tumbling skills. Learn handstands, cartwheels, back handsprings, front flips, back flips, wall flips, and other tumbling moves often used by the Savannah Bananas.

 

WHAT YOU'LL LEARN

Using our spring floor, trampolines, mini-tramp, air-track, and foam pit, we'll focus on strength, flexibility, and coordination, which are all very important in performing these skills safely. Safety is our main concern as we teach skills in proper progression, mastering the basics before moving into more difficult skills. Our classes welcome skill levels from beginner to advanced, and can be adapted to individual abilities. 

 

BENEFITS

These skills can also be used in other sports like cheer, acro-dance, martial arts, diving, ski jumping, parkour, and of course, baseball.
